Pierre Sun obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (P.C.LL.) at the University of Hong Kong. He subsequently also obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Chinese and Comparative Law.

He joined Yip, Tse & Tang in 1997. For the past few years, he has been concentrating on the practice of personal insolvency: debtor's petitions and individual voluntary arrangements (IVA). He has advised thousands of debtors on these aspects and is one of the leading and well-known insolvency practitioners in Hong Kong. He is well-known news commentators on legal issues relating to personal debts. His views are frequently quoted by types of media: TV, radio, newspapers and magazines.
